Goods & Service Tax Filing
Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a tax levied on the supply of goods and services in India. It is a single indirect tax law for the entire country, replacing a number of other indirect taxes such as excise duty, VAT, service tax, and octroi. GST was introduced in India on July 1, 2017.
The GST is a destination-based tax, which means that the tax is levied at the point of consumption of goods and services. The GST is levied at two rates: 5% and 18%. There are also a few goods and services that are exempt from GST, such as foodgrains, books, and medical supplies.
The GST is collected by the central and state governments. The central government collects the Central GST (CGST) and the Integrated GST (IGST). The state government collects the State GST (SGST). The IGST is levied on inter-state supplies of goods and services.
The GST is a major reform in India’s taxation system. It is expected to simplify the tax system, reduce tax evasion, and boost economic growth.
